Leveling system

braidenshaw 2 years ago in A problem with traders' rating updated by Genesis Vision Support 11 months ago 5

The leveling system has turned into the weak point of genesis vision. I’ve had a ton of family and friends who get excited about this platform but then can never get into a manager. Right now it takes on average 6 months to get into one. Three months til their current program ends and have more availability then another three months til you get accepted. Something needs to be done. Here are some thoughts on the matter With everything I’m about to say, I understand they did their best. And honestly I don’t have a perfect solution. But I think the old leveling system they proposed of a certain % gain consistently, with sharpe ratio takes into account is better than this.

They made the whole platform and leveling system a competition. It shouldn’t be a competition. Every trader should be able to trade their style. If they wanna be safe and have minimal draw down then let them. Right now if someone wants to trade that way they can’t level up and it hurts them to be safe because they will never return the top ten % even tho they are very consistent and good.

Also managers are limited by number of managers too. For example @bitkolik is waiting for 10 managers so he can compete with them to level up. And if one of the ten stops their program or stops, he continues to have to wait for more to compete with when clearly he is good.

And one other major problem, if the top 10% get to level up. Eventually only crappy managers will be competing with crappy managers in the Lowe levels and they will get to level up. Over the course of a couple years everyone’s theretically could be level 5-7. If the bench mark is everyone else in your level there is no guarantee that good managers level up. Only that the top 10% level up. Big difference.

Dear Client,

We would like to inform you that the new level system was introduced during our recent platform update. Thank you for your ideas and feedback as it really helped our team to curate the new level formula. All of the information about the new level system in detail can be found in our blog - https://blog.genesis.vision/genesis-vision-update-a-level-up-d01ef51c42a

Dear Client,

Thank you very much for your feedback, I have transferred it to our management.

Regarding to the first problem that you mentioned, please be informed that the rating on the level N is counting based on the profit for the last N-2 months, so if the program is showing a stable profit (without drawdown) in the long term perspective, then it will have the advantage over other programs which successfully closed a couple of deals in the last month, although before they were in a strong drawdown.

You further noted that it is impossible to level up without having enough quantity of same-level competing programs.  Alternatively, one program will level up too fast even if it will have almost zero profit, collect other people’s investments and disappear. In this case a program’s high level will not correlate with the success of the program.

It is very unlikely that there will be only low profit programs left to compete on the low levels.  For leveling up from 2 to 3, there will be a constant programs quantity increasing due to the new managers arrival, so in this case the probability that only low profit programs will remain in this rating is close to zero. In the other ratings, the probability is also very low for the reason described previously.

I would like to add a point to that. Like braidenshaw mentioned the system incentivises managers to take a higher risk to land in one of the spots that can level up and traders with consistent gains might not be able to level up though they are bringing in consistent profits. So to some extent the system might reward excessive risk taking. Particularly at the lower levels.

Why not tie the amount that can be managed to time? So lets say if you have only a trading history of 1 month you are only allowed to take n amount of gvt and if you have a history of e.g. 6 months allow a higher amount to be managed. With increasing trading history investors should be able to judge themselves whether a trader is good or not and be able to pick a program based on their taste for risk/profit. This would be more neutral in a sense, that it does not provide any incentives/disincentives to trade in a certain way to level up. Otherwise under the current system I see a risk, that programs taking a higher risk will be disproportionally represented in higher levels and less managers with a low risk profile will be in higher levels.

Can POS protocol be used as well as alternative to top 10 for levelling up for the managers who can't compete or aggressive in their strategy.

For example let's say a manager wants to level up from 2 ->3, if have a locked stack of 500 GVT for certain period of time. And this level up stack will increase with higher level. I believe this will benefit both platform and investor confidence as well that they can't run away after levelling up.

Dear Clients,

Thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestions. I have transferred it to our management.
